Swoopo has a new rival!

I didn't think it would take that long before someone else decided to copy the Swoopo.com model.
Check out these new kids on the Block: http://uk.madbid.com/
Some slight differences with this U.K. only auction sites format.
All auctions start from zero and increment at a penny a time. Auctions only run from 9am – 9pm.
With the time suspended until the auction re-opens the following day?? Bit bizarre?
MadBid.com is for UK residents only.
Taken from their FAQ...
"The cost of submitting a bid depends on whether you are using text message or a MadBid Account. Sending a text message costs £1.5 + any operator surcharges. To submit a bid through a MadBid Account costs between £1.4 and £0.75, depending on the package."
This is a lot more expensive than Swoopo's format but I'd say that it's due to the fact they are new and so are covering their back, so as not to take too great a loss.
Interesting to see if it can be as successful.

Hey HTWSA,
It's obvious that these guys would pop up. I think that they are only doing auctions at certain times of the day. Not a good idea as Swoopo proves the bidding environment is very active overnight. Also, I am sure it will conflict with people's work schedules. If you don't finish an auction by close, you get screwed and have to pick up in the morning. Not good.
Well, good luck to them. I hope to see them change their ways soon.
Best,
Dave

There may be some slight differences but all in all they run by the same mechanics. I just hope people will find time to understand these mechanics first before bidding and save some flaming about how lose their money without winning anything.
